We're bringing Geek Girls Carrots to Ireland
Calling all women interested in technology! We’re excited to announce that the worldwide community for women with a passion for all things tech is finally coming to Ireland. And we’re even more excited to be a part of it.
Geek Girls Carrots brings together female admins, analysts, application architects, developers, graphic designers, IT managers, programmers, social media specialists, system architects, women with startup ideas, computer science students and many more. It’s an amazing movement with regular events in Poland, Germany, Luxembourg, the UK, the USA, Australia and now Ireland.
Join the community on Facebook. The first meetup is taking place on March 5th, 19:30h-21-30h, at Third Space Cafe in Dublin. -> Click here to join. Speakers will be Malgorzata Sokolowska from Google, giving insights into her journey to becoming a Google engineer, and our very own Annabelle Atchison, talking about how women can use social media to connect and promote their work.
The Geek Girls Carrots network empowers its members through networking, learning and idea sharing. The mission of our community is to promote women in IT, help to educate them and inspire their pursuits. We also want to motivate women to run their own projects and establish new technology related companies.
The foundress of Geek Girls Carrots – Kamila Sidor, co-organized the first Startup Weekend in Poland in May 2011. The event attracted a lot of interest. However, among all the participants, women accounted for a disappointingly small percentage. And that was the moment the idea for Geek Girls Carrots was born. Kamila then met with Magdalena Wójcik – a blogger from www.geekgirls.pl – who was also thinking about meetings for geek girls. On July 7th, 2011, the first meeting of Geek Girls Carrots took place. After a few months Magdalena decided not to organize meetings any longer. But she was soon replaced by five new girls who now, with the local organizers, create the Geek Girls Carrots Board.
Geek Girls Carrots is always looking for insightful speakers and teachers, location sponsors and event partners. Contact us if you want to help:
